About Stooksie Glass Art

My name is Sue, but I am also called Stooksie and I paint glass. I paint anything except etched and cut glass, as the design is already present. I also paint ceramics. Examples include: - Goldfish bowls (particularly good with fairy lights) -Bottles (particularly olive oil and salad dressing) - Drinking glasses - Jugs - Storage jars - Candle jars and votives - Jam jars (great as candle holders and for capturing fairies and other creatures) - Diningware (mugs, butter dishes, teapots, cruet sets) I use specialist glass paint and create whatever comes into my mind when I see the object. I am always on the lookout for interesting shaped glass and it can be a real challenge deciding what to do with it. Often the same item has to be washed clean several times, before I arrive at the ‘right’ design. As a result, a number of the pieces are unlikely to be repeated. Although some items are similar, they are never exactly the same, as each one is created individually. Much of the glass I use is upcycled. I buy it from charity shops, it is given to me, or I obtain it from Freecycle. Occasionally, I’ll open my front door to find a box or bag of glass on my doorstep, which is very exciting, as I never know what I will find. Once I've made my decision on the design, the piece is thoroughly washed. Glass paint is then applied in layers, to produce not only a richness in the colours, but also texture. Once complete, I sign with an 'Sx', which is my artist's mark, then wait 24 hours for the paint to set, before baking it in an oven. After firing, the glass/ceramic can be used and handwashed as required. Glass paint is an interesting medium. It's like no other paint I've used before, as the consistency is a lot like liquid jam. But the more I've learned how to apply it, the more I've grown to love it. Now I paint glass every day and never cease to enjoy it. I sell my work on Etsy and at craft fairs. If you have something in mind or are looking for something unique perhaps I can help. I am always happy to consider a new challenge and would work with you to produce something special. Please note that I do use plastic bubble wrap, as sending glass through the post is somewhat precarious. However it is all donated to me by friends and family so it gets another life.

What you say...

Extremely fast delivery with excellent communication. Absolutely stunning oil bottles. I have purchased both the olive oil and chilli oil bottles. Each bottle has been beautifully hand painted and the detail really shows. They really bring a beautiful touch to the kitchen or garden table for a summer's evening dinner outside. I would 100% purchase from Stooksie Art again.
