About Nanny Bears Crochet

Hi, I am Amanda-Jane the face behind Nanny Bears Crochet, I live on the East Sussex coast with my partner Kevin and 2 dogs, Bing & Bubba. I have a 9-year-old grandson Stanley, he used to call me nanny bear so that’s where the name came from. My passion for Crochet only started a few years back when my elderly Nan who is now 99, showed me how to do a chain and then double crochet. I was determined to learn to do it, so I found an evening class ran by the very talented Eleonora at “Coastal Crochet”, this is where my passion for Crochet grew, I attended this class for nearly a year but then Covid came along and stopped that. So, during lockdown I learnt to do amigurumi and made over 150 NHS bears, I sold these and donated all the money to help the NHS fund. Crochet is now a very big part of my life; it’s my go to craft! I can even be found crocheting during my lunch break at my day job! I can crochet anything you like 🙂 You may of seen my Post Box Toppers in Telscombe Cliffs and Rottingdean, also i have been in the local Newspaper and on GMTV.

What you say...

Ref the Queens Crown Post Box Topper: "That's AWESOME Amanda, you really did a great job on TV,( you deserve it too)...But an even better one is the lovely things you create day-in-and-day-out that folk couldn't see (not only for the sad passing of the Queen) but that are/were others...these creations are all heart felt. The brilliant NHS bear you made me made me aware of your awesome art you make....Since then i have followed everything on the Nanny Bears site. Respect to you Amanda".
